There is nothing better than preparing a delicious meal and serving it on a well laid table.
Picking up that special china, arranging the plates, cutlery, and glasses in an aesthetic and beautiful way… When we do our best to set the table, we show all the care for the people who will share the meal with us.
The main function of setting the table is to make the atmosphere pleasant and beautiful. And for those who like to sew, the possibilities are endless! We can make specific pieces for each occasion! Tablecloths, napkins, bread baskets, placemats…
It is quite common for people to worry about this on birthdays, Easter, Mother's and Father's Day, Christmas... but any day can become special!
For romantic evenings or date nights, for instance, it is a good idea to prepare a special dinner and reeeeeally go for the details. But no need to worry! A romantic dinner doesn't have to be fancy to be special. It only needs to be cozy and... obviously... romantic!
You don't need to spend hours in the kitchen either! Just choose a simple meal like pasta and be indulgent with the dessert! (See below for a very romantic and decadent dessert idea...)
And besides the food, a few small details can turn an ordinary dinner into a special occasion:
- use a small table (like the coffee table in the living room) to create a more romantic atmosphere
- decorate it with flowers, but avoid tall arrangements (they get in the way of exchanging glances!)
- dim the lights and light some candles
- choose a playlist that is meaningful to your story (like the first dance or first kiss...)
- And make a beautiful placemat!
Like this one we created for a romantic dinner, called "Dinner for Two”:
We love how it turned out. And the best part of it is that it is very easy to make!

We'd love to see the different versions you'll create!
And if you make this dessert (you won't regret it), share it with us too!
